Vision Forum Blindconnect will collaborate with City of Las Vegas Leisure Services, Nevada Council of the Blind, and Veterans Administration Vision Services to provide the 5th annual Vision Forum. It is planned for April 6, 2011. Every year more individuals join us for workshops and networking, and a chance to view high and low-tech equipment and talk with providers of blindness services. Plans are in process for the 7th Annual Vision Forum 2012. |
Meetings include business, networking, and speakers in the
Blindconnect conference room. No-host

| Meets Fridays from 9am-10:45am in the Blindconnect office. It is open to anyone dealing with the issues of vision loss and its impact on relationships, employment, education. Call (702) 631-9009 for details. | ||||

Braille Club: This new activity focuses on Braille reading and writing as a viable communication tool. Meetings are scheduled the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 3 - 4:30 pm in the Blindconnect conference room. Members outreach to schools and the community-at-large to promote Braille literacy. |
Transition: Many thanks to Cox Charities for funding the 3rd Annual Transition Week in 2011. This 60-hour program of blindness skills training for transition age youth (age 14 - 20) from July 5 - July 15, 2011. Activities include advocacy, cane travel, daily living, cooking, communication, interpersonal skills, consumer awareness. Staffed by blind and visually impaired adult mentors and trained rehabilitation providers. Many thanks to our generous funders: Bonnie Scoups Foundation and Cox Charities who allowed us to initiate this powerful program in 2009 and to continue it in 2010. |
