blind date:  Dining in the Dark - SAVE THIS DATE:  MAY 3, 2012

The inaugural 'dining in the dark' experience started with brisk bidding at the silent auction,Dining in the Dark followed by opening remarks and hints for eating comfortably with vision loss, included a viewing of the Angela's House video "Putting the Pieces Together", and closed with an update on Blindconnect programs.

Thirty-seven guests joined Board members hosts to enjoy the 3-course meal while eating under sleep shades.  There was much chatting and laughter as attendees ate their meal.  Comments included:  "I'm happy I didn't spill anything on myself;" "I learned a lot of tips from the table ambassadors.

Dining in the DartThe Angela's House video was audio-described for those who chose to continue their experience under sleep shades.

The event met expectations on all levels.  It allowed Blindconnect to educate about blindness and to provide a challenging and fun experience or those with vision.  As people were leaving the venue at the Texas Station Convention Center, there were many comments about having Blind Date 2 in 2012.  Board members think that may well happen.

Look for a 'save-the-date' notification in early 2012.
