The inaugural 'dining in the dark' experience started with brisk bidding at the silent auction, followed by opening remarks and hints for eating comfortably with vision loss, included a viewing of the Angela's House video "Putting the Pieces Together", and closed with an update on Blindconnect programs. 

Thirty-seven guests joined Board members hosts to enjoy the 3-course meal while eating under sleep shades.  There was much chatting and laughter as attendees ate their meal.  Comments included:  "I'm happy I didn't spill anything on myself;" "I learned a lot of tips from the table ambassadors.

The Angela's House video was audio-described for those who chose to continue their experience under sleep shades.

The event met expectations on all levels.  It allowed Blindconnect to educate about blindness and to provide a challenging and fun experience or those with vision.  As people were leaving the venue at the Texas Station Convention Center, there were many comments about having Blind Date 2 in 2012.  Board members think that may well happen.
